Before the Print Meets Cloth

The print table is where people notice the craft. The real work starts earlier, in the decisions that make the table possible: what the textile needs to do, how the motif should travel, and which colours will still feel right after the hundredth repeat.

A brief becomes a rhythm

A room, a collection, or a custom idea gives the design its first boundary. From there, the motif is separated into layers and the wooden blocks are considered together. Each block has a role. Each gap between blocks has one too.

Colour is never only colour

Pigment changes with the cloth beneath it, the light around it, and the distance from which the finished piece will be seen. A colour that feels quiet on paper may become the detail that holds a room together.

By the time the cloth is ready to leave, the process has become invisible in the best possible way. What remains is a surface with enough character to be lived with.
